Key Features of Life Support Systems Health and Safety Programs Key Benefits of a company sponsored Life Support Systems Training Program CPR can help save lives. Cardiovascular disease accounts for more than 900,000 deaths a year, including nearly 500,000 due to heart attacks. Approximately two thirds of deaths from heart attack occur before the victim reaches the hospital. Many of these deaths can be prevented if the victims receive prompt help from an individual trained in CPR until medical professionals can take over. The American Heart Association has supported community CPR training for more than 3 decades. Citizen CPR responders have helped save thousands of lives. CPR training builds the confidence needed to respond quickly and effectively in an emergency and possibly save the life of a coworker, relative or friend. As an authorized American Heart Association Training Center, Life Support Systems is the premier provider of Heartsaver CPR training developed by the American Heart Association. Our comprehensive CPR training program teaches you the skills necessary to perform CPR on adults, children and infants. Life Support Systems CPR training programs teach the following skills: Life Support Systems CPR training will also inform you of state laws regarding lay life saving rescue efforts.
All 50 states have "Good Samaritan" laws that grant immunity to lay rescuers who attempt CPR
in an honest, "good faith" effort to save a life. The laws protect citizens who perform emergency CPR from legal action. Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) happens quickly and without warning, killing more than 350,000 Americans each
year. SCA is the unexpected loss of a person’s pulse and blood pressure, which occurs when the heart’s electrical
system malfunctions causing a person to suddenly collapse and lose consciousness. While CPR helps to briefly prolong a victim’s life, the only definitive treatment for Sudden Cardiac Arrest is early defibrillation, which must be activated within the first few minutes of a SCA emergency. The window of survival for SCA victims is only 5-6 minutes, and for every minute that passes after SCA, the chance of survival drops by 10%. Since 90% of SCA emergencies occur outside of a hospital and the average response time in most cities for emergency vehicles is approximately 10-12 minutes, proper emergency training and access to an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) are vital for saving lives. The American Heart Association (AHA) estimates that up to 100,000 deaths could be prevented each year if early defibrillation were readily available in the first few minuets of a SCA emergency. To help support the AHA recommended training and use of AED’s, many states have included the use of AED ‘s in their Good Samaritan laws so that a lay rescuer will be immune from legal action. Life Support Systems CPR/AED program teaches the following skills: The Heartsaver CPR/AED training utilizes a motivational video to ensure consistent and efficient course delivery. Significant time is dedicated to instructor guided and supervised practice sessions after each video viewing. Scenario-based practice sessions utilize multiple emergency situations that replicate real-life events. Satisfactory course completion is based on the evaluation of skills and written knowledge. Refresher training at least once a year is recommended by the AHA to retain CPR and AED skills. Life Support systems is committed to keeping the workplace safe. Employers are obligated under OSHA regulations to provide a safe and healthy workplace to employees. We provide you with the training needed to effectively respond to a wide variety of mild and serious injuries. Our Basic and Advanced First Aid Programs follows the national guidelines set forth by the American Heart Association.
